A Simple Method for Getting What You Want in Life!

When using the Law of Attraction, getting what we want in life can come down to one simple method.

But before we get into that method, I want to talk about something that plays an important role in our everyday lives.

Our emotions and the thoughts we repeatedly tell ourselves.

You see, the way we think, feel, and respond to situations can influence the decisions we make, the actions we take, and ultimately, the results we experience.

Let’s explore how this works.

How Your Emotions Can Influence Your Outcomes

Have you ever noticed how differently you approach life when you’re feeling positive compared to when you’re feeling negative?

When you’re constantly focused on negative thoughts, doubts, fears, and limitations, it becomes much harder to recognize opportunities and take action toward your desires.

For example, if you constantly tell yourself that you’re never going to become successful, you may begin to believe that statement.

And when you believe something strongly enough, it can influence how you behave.

You might stop trying new things, avoid opportunities, or give up before you’ve even started.

On the other hand, when you begin focusing on positive thoughts, possibilities, and solutions, you may find yourself becoming more confident and motivated to take action.

This is one of the principles I find fascinating about the Law of Attraction.

What you consistently focus your attention on can influence the direction of your life.

Now, this doesn’t mean you must remain positive every second of the day. We all experience different emotions, and that’s perfectly normal.

The important thing is learning how to recognize negative thought patterns and consciously redirect your attention toward something more constructive.

Understanding Your Conscious and Subconscious Mind

Your conscious mind is the part of your mind that you’re actively using right now.

It’s responsible for your immediate thoughts, decisions, and awareness.

Your subconscious mind, however, operates largely outside your conscious awareness.

It contains learned associations, habits, emotional responses, and beliefs that you’ve developed throughout your life.

Some of these beliefs can support your goals.

Others may be holding you back without you even realizing it.

The interesting thing is that we can work on changing many of these patterns through awareness, repetition, and intentional action.

And that’s where the simple method I’m about to share comes into play.

The Four Simple Phrases That Can Help Shift Your Mindset

I first learned about this technique from author Dr. Joe Vitale, who shared what he learned from Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len.

Today, I’m passing along this technique to you.

It’s associated with a modern adaptation of an ancient Hawaiian practice called Hoʻoponopono.

Traditional Hoʻoponopono focuses on reconciliation, forgiveness, and restoring harmony. The modern four-phrase version is often used as a personal practice for reflection and emotional healing.

The technique involves repeating four simple phrases to yourself.

1. I’m sorry.

2. Please forgive me.

3. I love you.

4. Thank you.

That’s it!

Four simple phrases.

The idea behind this practice is to help you acknowledge difficult thoughts and feelings, practice forgiveness, and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

Rather than fighting every negative thought that enters your mind, you can use these phrases as a reminder to pause, reflect, and choose how you want to respond.

And the wonderful thing about this technique is that you can practice it almost anywhere.

You can repeat these phrases while sitting at your desk, taking a walk, relaxing at home, or going about your everyday activities.

Identifying the Negative Stories You’re Telling Yourself

Now, here’s where I want you to do something a little different.

Before you begin using these four phrases regularly, I want you to grab a piece of paper and a pen.

Or, if you prefer, open a document on your computer.

Start writing down the negative statements and limiting beliefs that you repeatedly tell yourself.

And I want you to be completely honest.

Sometimes we repeat these statements so often that we don’t even realize we’re doing it.

Let me give you a few examples.

Example 1: “I Can’t Become Rich.”

How many times have you heard someone say this?

Maybe you’ve even said it yourself.

You might tell yourself:

  • “I’ll never have enough money.”
  • “I’m always going to struggle financially.”
  • “I wasn’t born into a wealthy family.”
  • “I’m too old to start building wealth.”
  • “Making money is too difficult.”
  • “People like me never become financially successful.”

Think about what happens when you continuously repeat statements like these.

You begin reinforcing the belief that financial success is something you cannot achieve.

And if you believe that you cannot become financially successful, how motivated are you going to be to learn new skills, explore opportunities, or create additional sources of income?

Instead, begin asking yourself better questions.

“What can I learn today that could improve my financial future?”

“What opportunities have I been overlooking?”

“What small action can I take today to move closer to financial freedom?”

Notice how those questions open your mind to possibilities rather than limitations.

Example 2: “I Can’t Lose Weight.”

This is another common statement people repeat to themselves.

Maybe you’ve heard someone say:

  • “I’ve tried everything, and nothing works.”
  • “I’ll always be overweight.”
  • “I don’t have the willpower to change.”
  • “Losing weight is impossible for someone my age.”
  • “I always fail when I try to get healthier.”
  • “There’s no point in trying again.”

Now, imagine approaching every attempt to improve your health with those beliefs running through your mind.

You may become discouraged before you even begin.

And when something doesn’t go according to plan, you might interpret that setback as proof that you were right all along.

But what if you changed the conversation you’re having with yourself?

Instead of saying, “I can’t lose weight,” you could say:

“I’m learning how to take better care of my body.”

“I can make small, healthy changes one day at a time.”

“My past experiences do not have to determine my future choices.”

You’re no longer focusing entirely on what you believe you cannot do.

You’re beginning to focus on what you can do.

Of course, weight and health can be influenced by many factors, but developing a supportive mindset can help you remain consistent with the actions within your control.

Example 3: “Only the Rich Get Richer.”

Have you ever heard this statement?

I certainly have.

It’s one of those phrases that people repeat without always stopping to think about what they’re actually saying.

Here are a few similar statements:

  • “You have to have money to make money.”
  • “The system is designed to keep people poor.”
  • “Only lucky people become wealthy.”
  • “You have to know the right people to succeed.”
  • “People with money get all the opportunities.”
  • “Someone like me could never build a successful business.”

Now, I’m not suggesting that everyone starts with the same opportunities or that financial obstacles aren’t real.

They certainly are.

But here’s something I want you to consider.

If you believe that financial success is reserved only for people who are already wealthy, you may overlook the opportunities that are available to you.

Instead of focusing entirely on what other people have, begin focusing on what you can learn, develop, and create.

Ask yourself:

“What skills could I develop?”

“What problems could I help other people solve?”

“What resources do I already have available to me?”

You may be surprised by what you discover when you begin looking for possibilities.

Other Negative Beliefs That May Be Holding You Back

And negative beliefs aren’t limited to money or health.

They can affect almost every area of your life.

For example:

When it comes to starting a business:

  • “I don’t know enough to start.”
  • “Nobody will buy anything from me.”
  • “The market is already too crowded.”
  • “What if I fail?”
  • “I don’t have enough time.”

When it comes to relationships:

  • “Nobody will ever love me.”
  • “I’m not good enough.”
  • “Every relationship I have ends badly.”
  • “I don’t deserve to be happy.”

When it comes to personal growth:

  • “I’m too old to change my life.”
  • “It’s too late for me to start over.”
  • “I’m not smart enough.”
  • “I always make the wrong decisions.”
  • “Nothing ever works out for me.”

When it comes to creating content or pursuing your dreams:

  • “Nobody wants to hear what I have to say.”
  • “I’m afraid people will judge me.”
  • “I don’t look good on camera.”
  • “I’ll start when I feel more confident.”
  • “Other people are already doing it better than I could.”

Do any of these statements sound familiar?

Here’s something I want you to think about.

Just because you’ve repeated a statement for years doesn’t automatically make it true.

Sometimes the biggest limitations we experience are the beliefs we’ve accepted about ourselves.

And recognizing those beliefs is the first step toward changing them.

How to Practice the Four-Phrase Method Every Day

Now that you’ve identified some of your negative thoughts and limiting beliefs, it’s time to put this method into practice.

Here’s what I invite you to do.

Step 1: Write down your negative thoughts.

Take a few minutes each day to identify the statements you’ve been repeating to yourself.

Don’t judge yourself for having these thoughts.

Simply acknowledge them.

Step 2: Choose one negative belief to work on.

For example:

“I’ll never become financially successful.”

Take a moment to recognize how that statement makes you feel.

Step 3: Repeat the four phrases.

Slowly repeat:

  • I’m sorry.
  • Please forgive me.
  • I love you.
  • Thank you.

You can say them quietly to yourself or out loud.

Some people prefer repeating them several times, while others incorporate them into a daily meditation or reflection practice.

There’s no need to force yourself to feel a particular emotion.

Simply allow yourself a moment of reflection.

Step 4: Replace the limiting belief with a more supportive thought.

For example:

Instead of “I’ll never become financially successful,” try:

“I’m learning new ways to improve my financial situation.”

Instead of “I’m too old to start over,” try:

“I can begin creating a new chapter in my life today.”

Instead of “Nobody wants to hear what I have to say,” try:

“My experiences and lessons may help someone else.”

Step 5: Take one small action.

This is something I believe is extremely important.

Changing your thoughts can be helpful, but taking action is what allows you to begin creating different results.

If you want to improve your finances, learn a new skill.

If you want to become healthier, begin developing a healthier daily habit.

If you want to start a business, take one small step toward getting it started.

You don’t have to accomplish everything in one day.

You just have to begin.

Make This a Part of Your Daily Routine

I encourage you to practice this technique consistently.

Whenever you notice yourself falling into a pattern of negative self-talk, use it as an opportunity to become more aware of what you’re thinking.

Repeat the four phrases if they help you feel more centered.

Then ask yourself what thought or action would better support the direction you want your life to go.

Remember, this isn’t about pretending that problems don’t exist.

It’s about learning how to respond to challenges without allowing negative beliefs to control every decision you make.

And while no four phrases can guarantee a particular outcome, practicing self-awareness, forgiveness, and more constructive thinking can be valuable tools for personal growth.

Your Next Chapter Begins With the Thoughts You Choose Today

One of the things I’ve come to realize is that creating a better life doesn’t always begin with some enormous change.

Sometimes it begins with something as simple as recognizing the stories we’ve been telling ourselves.

Maybe you’ve been telling yourself that you’re too old.

Maybe you’ve convinced yourself that you’ll never have enough money.

Or perhaps you’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to begin pursuing something you’ve wanted for years.

But here’s what I want you to remember.

Your past doesn’t have to determine what your next chapter looks like.

You can begin changing how you think.

You can begin developing new habits.

And you can begin taking actions that move you toward the life you want to create.

One thought, one decision, and one action at a time.
